Her Story:

Cheryl was first diagnosed with Cancer in March of 1997.  She was pregnant with twins at the time she was given this horrible news.  She lost one of the twins due to complications and had to deliver her son, Tommy premature on April 2, 1997.  Immediately, after the C-Section. She was taken into surgery where a complete hysterectomy was preformed, and the cancer was removed at that time.  Only for it to come back stronger in the bladder and the Colon 2 times.  These surgeries caused her to have many hospital stays, Chemo and Radiation treatments, feed tubes, Central lines, Pick lines and so much more.  Through all of that she maintain her tenacity and refused to give up on her dream of helping others fight this horrible disease!

In January 2011, Cheryl was placed on hospice and given three days left to live.  On that day, her funeral arrangements were made.  On that day, her son Tommy, laid down next to her and whispered every so gently in her ear; “Mommy, You have to fight one more time because I CANT live here without you.”  It was that exact statement that caused Cheryl to fight one more time.  …Only to have Tommy pass away on July 10, 2011.  He has fallen 36 feet from a tree and was a trauma patient and admitted into the hospital for several internal injuries. After being released from the hospital, Tommy was still in severe pain and ended up taking medicine that was in Cheryl’s hospice room to help eliminate the pain.  By taking medicine that was prescribed to Cheryl for his pain…. It was fatal decision!  It caused his death.

At that moment, it was Cheryl’s mission not to allow this to happen to another parent.  She was determined to manifest her pain into CHANGE!    She was determined to bring awareness to the Opioid Crisis that we all are currently facing!  She had to do something even if it were simple and small.

She started doing what she absolutely loved to do; baking and cooking.  She ended up making some amazing and effective Chocolate Chip cookies.  It expanded from there.  Cheryl has entered and won several baking competitions and has WON first place in three categories.  She has continued her passion to help others through her love of cooking and baking.
